Policies

MEET & GREET

Untangled Leashes provides a complimentary meeting with a member of our management team who will then "in walk" introduce your walker(s) or sitter(s) at no charge to you. If you prefer to meet each of your walkers or sitters, we are happy to arrange it at a time that works for you. There is a nominal fee of $10 for a meet and greet with each walker.

WALK WINDOWS

For our midday services we ask for a 2-hour walk window for dogs over 10 months of age. Ask us about custom solutions for puppies, elderly pets, or pets with special needs (e.g. medication administration)!

CANCELLATIONS & LATE REQUESTS

Cancellation Fee:

Cancel services by 8pm the evening BEFORE your scheduled service to avoid any fees. If you cancel after 8pm the day before service but before 9am the day of service, the cancellation fee is 50% of the cost of service. All cancellations after 9am will incur the full cost of the service. 

Late Request Fee: 
Monday through Friday: request services 24 hours before the desired date and time of service to avoid the late scheduling fee of $5 per service.

Weekends: request services no later than 8pm on the Thursday prior to the desired date of service to avoid the late scheduling fee of $5 per service. 

TIME OF DAY & WEEKEND SURCHARGES

Weekend: All weekend visits have a weekend surcharge charge of $3
After Hours: Any M-F visit starting between 5pm and 8pm has an after hours surcharge of $3

KEYS & ACCESS

The following are accepted means of access to your home and pets:

1. Keys provided at meet & greet. We ask for three (3) sets of keys; two will be kept with your primary and secondary walkers and the third will be kept as a backup in our secure safe.

2. Lock Box.  Client keys are placed within a secure lock box. Only Untangled Leashes staff assigned to your walk or sitting have access to the combination. These can be placed outside of homes or on apartment doors and can be used in combination with call boxes. With this option we still ask for one backup key to be kept in our secure safe, in case of a lock box malfunction. 

3. Coded entry via door or garage. Clients provide a code for garage doors and/or coded door locks. Only Untangled Leashes staff assigned to your walk or sitting have access to the code(s). If the key pad is NOT battery powered, we still ask for one backup key to be kept in our secure safe, in case of a power outage. 

4. Concierge. Client keys are picked up from building concierges in exchange for walker/sitter ID during the course of the visit. Clients are required to notify their concierge to give Untangled Leashes access. When selecting this option please be aware that your visit time starts when your walker or sitter approaches the concierge desk.  This is to ensure that we can stay on schedule for services afterwards. 

If you prefer that we return your keys in between pet sittings, there is a $5 key pick up/key drop off fee.

Any methods of access using unsecured keys or doors are at the client's risk and Untangled Leashes will not be responsible for unauthorized access to your home or lost keys.

INCLEMENT WEATHER

In cases of inclement weather we will make every effort to complete your service within your desired walk window or scheduled time, but we cannot guarantee times. Your walker or sitter will use their judgement regarding safety while traveling to your home and once they have arrived. If it would be dangerous for your pet or walker to be outside, the walker will delay service as they see fit. 

​If the Federal Government is closed due to inclement weather we will waive cancellation fees.
